Our local produce market has an amazing variety of herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables, for equally amazing prices. So, whenever I’m trying a new recipe, I go there to buy the fresh goodness.
The challenge is that I usually have a lot left over, and I know that if I don’t use it quickly, it’ll go bad. Here’s a simple way that I preserve them, that I think you’ll enjoy.
Herb infused ice cubes!
All you need to have in order to make them is an ice tray, water and your herbs. Simply chop the herbs or remove the leaves from the stems. Then place them inside your water filled ice tray. Place the tray in the freezer and….. that’s it!
This process works for herbs like mint, lavender, rosemary or basil. You can then place the ice cubes in your water to add a bit of flavor or you can add the ice cubes directly to your recipe. Just remember that it’s going to add more water to whatever you’re making.
Have you tried this before? What’s your favorite way to preserve your extra herbs?
Great idea!
